  10. Idaho Potato on September 20, 2022 at 8:29 pm

I was all set to order one and then realized that most of these procedures are done with tools I already have. And I don’t have to buy all these cutter tips.

I am wondering if a magnetic bar… I think would be a good way to store them. I use them for various hand tools and so far they are not magnetizing my tools. I need to find my owners manual. Most likely. manufacturers have info o the net.
When I work with wood and little imperfections; I have found various uses. Great video.

  12. bill atkins on September 20, 2022 at 8:31 pm

The blades can also be used sideways in certain materials it depends on what you’re cutting but if the front end isn’t working try it sideways you’ll be amazed

  13. Jose Moreno on September 20, 2022 at 8:31 pm

I bought one not long a go. It’s a very useful cutting tool. Thanks for showing me how reuse those old blades I kept in my junk box. Thank you again.

  16. Justin Riley on September 20, 2022 at 8:36 pm

How you know the blade is dull: when you see smoke! lol (but seriously when you’re cutting wood)

  17. INDY FOSHO on September 20, 2022 at 8:37 pm

Ive yet to find quality multi-tool blades..well at least for cutting aluminum extrusions. theyre all trash imo. Love the tool but the blades are awful, especially for what they cost! They turn into scrappers real quick!

The multi-tool manufacturers should watch the video…and they will quickly make some carpet cutter attachments. They should poll users to discover other potential improvements.

  26. Mark Augustin on September 20, 2022 at 8:52 pm

My step son helped us with re-tiling both bathrooms and I had recently bought one of these tools. He’s a contractor and calls it an "E" tool. Easier to say than oscillating tool. Think "EEEEEEEEEEE’" as the noise it makes. Great video!

  27. darryl mcleman on September 20, 2022 at 8:53 pm

I recently saw a YT vid of a chap sharpening the oscillating blades.Sorry I cant remember the name but it can be done.

  28. Darren Gerbrandt on September 20, 2022 at 8:53 pm

Love my multitool and you gave some great tips that are only obvious once pointed out, great repurposing of dull blades guess I won’t be throwing those out now.

  29. Chris Knight on September 20, 2022 at 9:00 pm

Things that this tool does that beat other tools: It can replace jig saws for long straight accurate cuts, especially on boards where jigsaw vertical vibrations make accuracy difficult, the horizontal multitool vibrations present no problems. It can cut floor boards on a bevel angle avoiding recessed brad nails, and cut tongue and groove boards so that the original boards may be lifted and replaced without splitting, especially useful for antique boards that have no modern size equivalent, replacing floorboard saws. It can perform partial depth cuts, instead of using chisels. Blades may be narrowed using angle grinders for specific jobs like morticing door fittings, squaring drill holes, or cutting recesses for flush fittings, such as hinges. You can glue fine grit abrasive sheets to old blades for honing cutting edges on various blades, or squaring screwdrivers, or removing rust from blade faces, or old grout from tiles being re-affixed. Plunge cutting can make holes or channels where your drill cannot go, at the back of cabinets, through joists, at the base of skirting boards, for routeing pipes, cables and flexes. If you have a problem without a solution, pick up your multitool and see what possibilities it may offer!

When I first saw these on TV, I thought they were just garbage, then I got ahold of one, then came the cordless version.
I buy nearly every one I see at a pawn shop.

  33. Billy Blackie on September 20, 2022 at 9:05 pm

I fully agree by cheat first, see your usage, needs and convenience and consider your occasional use then buy good quality accessories when needs arise it is cheaper in the long term

WHY DO YOU SHOUT SO LOUD!! – Buy a microphone instead. Too much talk and too little showing how to use it.

Do you also have a video on Jigsaws?

I remember using a small drill bot and a wood chisel to remove trim in a remodel, to not destroy the molding where we were replacing it up to a certain point. I spent an hour doing what an oscillating tool could do in 5 minutes

  43. Lora McClamrock on September 20, 2022 at 9:15 pm

How do you make a nice square cut on pipe?

  44. sam Tollefson on September 20, 2022 at 9:16 pm

    Good tips!
One real important one, especially for newbies, is that all you need is a small triangle file to resharpen those toothed blades. Because of the rough nature of the cut, you don’t have to even be careful about the angles, etc, of the sharpening, just run it down the old worn grooves until you get your points back and go back to work. I have some that I have sharpened 15 or more times that still work great and have had many free lunches with the saved money for those overpriced blades!
There is a woman on YT that shows you how: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XN8dlNku0vk

I will defiantly be following you from now on

  49. Bill LaBrie on September 20, 2022 at 9:20 pm

I love mine. I consider it a power knife. My hot tip? Wiggle it, just a little bit. Helps it cut through shims and trim.
