Let’s talk about Anki vs Quizlet, because when you’re talking about the best flashcard app or the best spaced repetition app, these are the two most popular names that come to mind. The Anki flashcards app has been around for a long time and many medical students, including ourselves, swear by its learning potential. Quizlet flashcards have also been around for a while, and for many students it has really brought the fun back to learning. So in this video we are going to go over the pros and cons of the Quizlet app and Anki flashcards review style.

But wait… while we are on the topic of amazing study apps, you should definitely check out a new program called Remnote. It is still in beta, but the program is a combination of digital note taking AND spaced repetition, making it an incredible and comprehensive learning tool. We are super excited to share it with you!

Check out Remnote at https://www.remnote.io/

**CORRECTION in the video. Anki can be used online! We forgot to mention AnkiWeb which can be accessed from a browser. However AnkiWeb lacks many of the features of the downloaded program version and is not as stable overall. Anki Developers recommend the downloaded version over the web version as mentioned here : https://ankiweb.net/about

Quizlet wins, however it lacks many things such as “pronunciation” therefore I decided to create my own solution.

Thanks for watching everyone! **Correction in the video, Anki can be used online via AnkiWeb! However it’s features are severely limited and to make use of the full workflow and study efficiency, the downloaded version is the way to go (it’s free). A word from the Anki developers about this : https://ankiweb.net/about

I went with Quizlet as there are several existing flashcards sets already on the platform for my CFA Level 2 studies.

  11. Sivananda Sai Chilukuri on September 20, 2022 at 8:23 pm

You needed to go through the learning curve? But in another video the other guy said that he was a cofounder! What is the deal here?

Is making flash cards on quizlet free?

  13. Leo Paradinight on September 20, 2022 at 8:24 pm

I had a lot of audio replay issues with Anki in Windows 11. After trying to fix the issues for a couple of days, I gave up and moved on to Quizlet.

  16. Mills Dickson on September 20, 2022 at 8:27 pm

Check out Obsidian (free) with Anki (free) as a very powerful combo.

I liked anki… but then I think I broke it.. at a certain point it stopped syncing and although it works on my phone and not limiting me currently, I don’t understand the system set up enough to understand how or if the problem can be rectified. I’ve become afraid of the sync button for fear of it reverting to the reduced version of notes that are in ankiweb vs anki droid.
So..I started using ‘study smarter’ app as an alternative, but now the bas***ds decided to remove offline accessibility for free users… of course.. classic. After I just spent a week making packs of cards to revise on regular 2 hour train journeys.. furious is an understatement.

  19. KobeConfidence on September 20, 2022 at 8:28 pm

    Literally
Never heard of anki before now

  20. Raymundo R on September 20, 2022 at 8:30 pm

Any updates on those three? I need help memorizing for the Bar exam.

  21. S B on September 20, 2022 at 8:31 pm

anki is a necessary evil i do it every day for 1 to 1.5 h for months at a time but it can get really sickening some time just hitting that space bar loooool

  22. Sascha P on September 20, 2022 at 8:32 pm

thank you!!!!! this is the best! too many options!

  23. a rather opinionated individual on September 20, 2022 at 8:38 pm

    quizlet got a paywall now

  24. John Doe on September 20, 2022 at 8:39 pm

The whole point of anki is spaced repetitions. If the other app doesn’t have that its barely a worthy comparison.

  25. Dennis Reynolds on September 20, 2022 at 8:40 pm

Quizlet has been removing lots of things that made it good. I’m switching to Anki.

  26. Ciara🇮🇪 on September 20, 2022 at 8:41 pm

    I love quizlet

  27. Sri Krishnan on September 20, 2022 at 8:42 pm

Well u can’t compare remnote with anki. Remnote is really a good combo of anki and notion but image occluded is missing in remnote’s free version. The most essential feature (ATLEAST for me) is the image occlusion (addon) in anki. I can’t imagine anki without it. That being said remnote won’t be a good at flash cards for this reason

  28. scott ulves on September 20, 2022 at 8:42 pm

Does ANKI allow you to print your cards and the option to save them as a file to upload to other apps?

  29. R M on September 20, 2022 at 8:44 pm

I was about to insta dislike bc I thought this was affiliate marketing for the other app. but it doesn’t look like an affiliate link. maybe you developed it? idk

  30. Fabi on September 20, 2022 at 8:45 pm

If you have a card with one question and on the other side a very long text (hundreds of words) how can you remember all of that?
Isn’t it better to make 10 cards and just have 5-10 sentences at the back of the card?

  31. Alicia Beth on September 20, 2022 at 8:45 pm

Thank you soooo much for your help!!!!

  32. Jean Carlos Ruíz on September 20, 2022 at 8:51 pm

    Quizlet its the best.

You can do space repetition by yourself.

Revision time is usually 2x plus a few days. Once you get comfortable with a topic, you will only have to revise it once a month or something.

Why people are so anoying about Quizlet doesnt have something that you can remember to do? -.-‘

Anki its ugly and not have all the funtions that have quizlet.

  33. Michael Shparber on September 20, 2022 at 8:52 pm

Flashcards Deluxe is the best! It also has Spaced Repetition

  34. Ali on September 20, 2022 at 8:56 pm

I would like to thank you guys for your wonderful video I really was looking for app like that program your video is the best ever to teaching about application like that

Update for the Video: Anki wins, because Quizlet decided to be paid

  38. Evergreen 13 on September 20, 2022 at 9:00 pm

is spaced repetition on Quizlet available again? (even if it is premium)

  39. slopcrusher on September 20, 2022 at 9:01 pm

Anki is a god send. I’m taking Gen Chem 1, so there’s a lot of memorization. Molecular numbers, polyatomic compounds, acid baking, it’s so easy to just throw in a hand full of examples to study on Anki before I start learning for the day

  40. 2k_M7MD on September 20, 2022 at 9:01 pm

    Chegg is better

  41. Kamala Chanda on September 20, 2022 at 9:01 pm

Remnote is terrible with audio files – super slow and not worth the time to setup and use..!

  42. David Tharp on September 20, 2022 at 9:01 pm

    Thanks guys!

  43. Aiden Brady on September 20, 2022 at 9:01 pm

    I like to use chegg

  44. Conrad Kai on September 20, 2022 at 9:02 pm

I got something better. Get a gym teacher or someone with gym teacher energy, a blindfold, and a lot of dodgeballs. Wear the blindfold and have the gym teacher quiz you. If you get something wrong, prepare to be pelted.

  45. Mark P on September 20, 2022 at 9:04 pm

Starting anki now. Wow, the UI is horrible. It’s ancient. Looked at quizlet and it’s much sexier and easier to get up and running. The only reason I’m gonna use anki is the image occlusion. Thanks for the video, guys

  46. Snipes Entertainment on September 20, 2022 at 9:04 pm

When I was in college I had to actually find the answers.

  47. Progressive Dolly on September 20, 2022 at 9:05 pm

    Quizlet no longer free

  48. Nevya Alya Mardhiyah on September 20, 2022 at 9:05 pm

You can open anki through safari on iPad

  49. hello bro on September 20, 2022 at 9:07 pm

    Idorecall is best

  50. Unknown User on September 20, 2022 at 9:08 pm

Unlike the most of users I find Quizlet’s UI annoying with so many features I don’t need and all those distracting animations. On the other hand Anki is about the bare learning process. That’s why I prefer the latter.
