Big fail for me. Couldn’t get it to trace around the box. I was using 5/8. Guide bit was riding above the box edge. Bits were also breaking. Frustrated ended up cutting with drywall hand saw.

  6. Uragon Kadi on September 19, 2022 at 10:06 pm

I learnt from this video the direction of the cutting tool around the box fixtures. Inside the box, move the cutting tool in clockwise direction, outside the box, counterclockwise. Thank you

26 THOUSAND RPMS. NOT 26 HUNDRED.

  8. Dwayne Nero on September 19, 2022 at 10:11 pm

Nice review. I think to help beginners you should stress the use of the depth guide bracket that you kept on the other tool. It keeps the beginner from going too deep into the box (away from the wires) as well as it will keep you from getting hung up on the other edges around the electrical box. You just adjust the guide to just a little wider than the thickness of the drywall. Thanks for helping out dude.

That’s great when you have an object to trace but how do you freehand cut in the middle of a hollow section? I can’t keep it straight….

  23. Jahlil Butler on September 19, 2022 at 10:32 pm

Can you use it on thin metal?

  24. Wayne Guillotte on September 19, 2022 at 10:32 pm

Great video. Found this while viewing your drywall screw gun video (great video as well) Can you use the same technique for wood paneling? I’ve had to do a few remodels with paneling and spent way too much time cutting out the boxes and switches.

  30. thebigbry on September 19, 2022 at 10:41 pm

Good video. I got one of these in a bundle, was trying to figure out used for it. If this is all it does. Seems like a giant, noisy, messy, tool to replace a small hand held drywall saw.

Works well on a metal box, but what about a plastic box?

  33. ben_r_ on September 19, 2022 at 10:42 pm

Anyone found a good way to capture the dust from these things? Tried one and it kicked out so much dust I opted to use a drywall saw instead.

Thank you for the quick run over with this tool. Have wanted one for years an don’t really need it for a do it myself kind of person in my own home but it’s nice to have to make things that much quicker.

  42. visual illiusions on September 19, 2022 at 10:49 pm

Thanks Brad. The tutorial was great.

  45. KMT15 on September 19, 2022 at 10:50 pm

Why on earth do they not make a circle guide or dust collection system for this?

  46. jumboneil on September 19, 2022 at 10:50 pm

Hi Brad, nice video…..for newbs, would it useful to use the Cut-out tool’s depth guide so that they don’t get hung up on the electrical box metal bits that are a bit deeper? I have the corded De Walt DW660 and I find the depth guide set at drywall thickness plus 1/4” is very helpful to stop me from getting hung up and I seem to get clean cuts from it…..

  47. razerburn 421 on September 19, 2022 at 10:51 pm

Can’t go wrong with dewalt I bought the screw gun and router kit and got a extra router for free and two 2 ah batteries and a super charger for a little under 300.00 and there still running strong after 3 years

  48. Mark Gross on September 19, 2022 at 10:51 pm

I love mine, I have used it for doing around framing for windows, basic sheet rock, I have even used it for inside and outside corners of Cove Vinyl, and switching rollers on Vinyl window sashes when the operation was wrong.

  49. Mike Higgins on September 19, 2022 at 10:55 pm

I know it’s not ideal but could I use Dewalts compact router with a 1/4” rotozip bit? I just need to do a few boxes.
